Rockstar Beauty Tip #3 - mark.

A friend recently turned me on to this product line of cosmetics.  What sucked me in right away was the price tag...affordable make-up?  Really?  Although its true, I am a bargain hunter, I also look for VALUE...that is much more important to me.  What good is cheap eyeliner if it LOOKS cheap?  So, (long story, short) I gave it a try.

I was ready for a change.  I have been wearing mineral make-up for quite a few years, and I loved it because it was natural looking...but it was terribly inconvenient.  Loose powders are hard to travel with, and they make a mess in your bathroom.  I ordered mark's Powder Buff Natural Skin Foundation and the coverage is perfect, the color is exactly what it says (natural) and the price made it affordable enough ($10) to buy blush and eyeshadow.

mark. is such an impressive product line that I became a rep.  I love the colors they offer and they have a product design that feels unique to me.  Since I am a busy mom (and rockstar), I don't spend a lot of time worrying about my make-up...I want to put it on once and forget about it.  mark. makes it easy to glam up, travel light and look fabulous all day long...and it barely made a dent in my wallet!

Great gift ideas for Christmas too! http://lisalong.mymarkstore.com/  VISIT my mark. store and see why I love it so much!

Rockstar Beauty Tip #2 - Aloe Vera

I have never been into putting cream or lotion on my face...mostly because I have oily skin and large pores, so I have always been prone to acne...any additional oils would inevitably cause me to break out.  Oily skin has also been a blessing to me, I must admit.  I am well into my forties and do not really have any wrinkles to speak of.  Sometimes I still get carded when buying a bottle of wine at the market...what a compliment, right?  When people meet for the first time, especially at a gig, they will usually guess my age to be around 28 or 29...it definitely makes a girl feel good.

I do not take my oily skin for granted...at least, not anymore.  I realize that my age will eventually catch up with me, so I do take measures to care for my skin and keep it supple.  I still do not use face creams or any type of lotion on my face...but I have found aloe vera to be a virtual "fountain of youth".  I am a pretty frugal person too, so I cannot justify spending tons of money on any beauty products, when Mother Nature provides a near perfect product and it is very cheap.  An $8 bottle of aloe vera gel will last me an entire year.  It is not greasy, it has no scent, and it absorbs immediately into my skin without any residue.

Aloe is great for keeping your skin hydrated, but it also helps regenerate cells and is an anti-bacterial, so it fights blemishes as well and protects your skin from free radicals.  Hello!  Did I also mention, its CHEAP????

This is a beauty tip that I highly recommend for anyone or any age...check it out!

Rockstar Beauty Tip #1 ~ Self Esteem

You can cake on all the make-up in the world, you can dress up in diamonds and high heels, you can tease your hair and spray it as high as you want...but if you don't believe in yourself, your beauty will never truly shine through.  I find it to be very true, absolute beauty does come from within.

What is self-esteem, and how can we achieve it?  Many of us were not raised to have strong self-esteem, but that does not mean it is not achievable.  Self-esteem is that little voice inside of you that says, "I am wonderful, I am worthy, I have a good heart and I can do anything I set out to do."  That can be very difficult if you were brought up in a negative environment.

It took me years to develop a strong sense of self.  My little voice told me I wasn't like-able, I wasn't talented enough or pretty enough.  Since I believed it, it became my truth.  Life was horrible for me for years.  Decades of study and soul searching brought me around, and I realized that I was a good person.  People DO like me.  I am pretty.  I am also funny, talented, strong, and I know how to show others they are wonderful too.  That's when I developed a mantra.  One day I wrote, "Basically, I'm a Rockstar"...a simple statement, and it stuck.

ALL women can be rockstars in their own right.  No matter what your station in life, YOU are beautiful, you ARE a success, and you CAN do anything you set out to do.  This is where beauty begins.  After that, you can dress it up however you want.  Many days I go without make-up at all, hang around the house in my yoga pants and a t-shirt...but I still FEEL like a rockstar, and I am beautiful.  Yesterday was a classic example.  I threw on some pants and a tank top, and without washing my hair or putting on a stitch of make-up I drove to San Diego to run some errands.  I stopped at a gas station, paid the clerk $20 and he says, "beautiful smile by the way!"  It made my day, and I realized how far I had come.

Women in the 21st Century have it all.  We have fought hard to get here.  We are amazing creatures with many talents, the world could not exist without us.  Are you a Mom?  Are you a student?  A hard worker? A professional?  A caregiver?  A taxi driver?  A decorator?  A do-it-yourselfer?  Make a list of all the things you are.  I bet its a long one.  You ARE important, you are needed, and you ARE loved.  Build your self-esteem, and find your inner rockstar.

Now...let's DRESS IT UP!
