What's This All About Anyway?

Good Question!

For a few months now I have been building a retail website.  My goal was to offer great deals on clothing, make-up, handbags and accessories at affordable prices.  I also have designs in my head that I have wanted to create and share with the world, so this also gives me the perfect opportunity for that as well.

So, the time has come, the launch is fairly close now.  I have several items on the website now and many more are on the way.  You can visit now and go ahead and do some shopping, but keep in mind that in a few weeks there will be plenty more REALLY COOL fashions to choose from.  The rockstar hats seem to be a favorite so far.  I have seen similar hats in local retail shops for $35 or more...mine are only $20.  They are ADORABLE!

I am most excited about my snappy wrap-skirt design which is about 2 weeks away from completion.  This unusual garment will be like wearing a piece of art on your body.  Each one is unique (meaning they are one-of-a-kind) and you can adjust them to fit any size from 4 to 14.  I do not have a picture to share with you yet, as the dress-maker is still putting it together...BUT SOON!!!  The challenge for me right now is making them cost-effective, but for now I am really just excited about the design!

There are many aspects to a woman that make her beautiful, so this blog has been a fun outlet for me to kind of showcase my personal beauty tips.  I am open to questions and suggestions, so please leave those in the "comments" section of this post.  What beauty tips do YOU have to share with the world?  What would you like to know or see on this blog, or my website?  Please understand that SPAM and general cyber-bullying is not tolerated, therefore each comment is moderated.  Your cooperation is much appreciated, I LOVE hearing from you!

OH!  I almost forgot!  Here is my new link: http://www.basicallyimarockstar.com/

Enjoy!

Rockstar Beauty Tip #7 - K.I.S.S.

When all else fails...Keep It Simple Sweetie.

I'm all about comfort and value, as I have mentioned many times.  I am also about starting with basics.  This is a new year, so let's start it off with a fresh new you, a clean slate, a new beginning...

FASHION IN LAYERS

No matter what season it is, the smartest fashion statement is LAYERS.  You can always add or subtract from it depending on the situation: no matter if it is lunch, dinner, air conditioning, standing in the blistering sun, concert, or a kids' birthday party.  Pick colors that can mix and match, your outfits will not look the same twice!  Here are some great essentials and ideas for your closet for this year.  And you WON'T have to spend a fortune!

THE LONG TANK TOP

Tank tops are brilliant!  They can be layered or worn alone.  They can elongate your waistline, and accentuate your figure.  Dress it up with a long chain or a choker, wear a jacket over it if it is cold, and peel the jacket off when someone turns up the heat! Layer two tanks together, or a bathing suit top, or a t-shirt!  I love tank tops, they are inexpensive and come in every color imaginable.  They are both youthful and ageless...hmmm, wonder if I have made my point?  hehehe

BLACK ISN'T BACK...IT NEVER LEFT

You can't go wrong with black.  I am all about black and brown as the staple color in my closet.  Black and brown go with practically any color, you really can't go wrong.  The REASON I implement black in almost every outfit is: 1.  It's dramatic (of course)  2. It's slimming  and 3: It makes any other color you wear stand out.  My favorite thing is to wear black pants, a strappy black top and a bright red lace shirt over the whole thing.  The red totally pops and I look like a rock diva.  Try it also with turquoise, olive green, pink, purple, silver or gold.  It's brilliant!  Do NOT however, wear all black...then you will be in danger of appearing morose, depressed, or hiding something.

LOOK NATURAL

I don't know about you, but loads of make-up and tons of jewelry looks totally ridiculous to me.  Ya, I know it looks great in a magazine or a commercial...but think about real life.  Why would you wanna look like that in the grocery store, or just walking down the street?  I get that some professions might require a bit more glam, but in my book low maintenance is the best look all around.  This is why I like mark. products.  The make-up is light and not over-stated, the colors are natural and yet evens my skin tone.  I rarely wear eye-liner, unless I am doing a show or going out for a night on the town.  Explore your natural beauty, try mark. products, besides being a great product it is also really affordable.  Here's a link to my store: http://lisalong.mymarkstore.com/

Thanks for allowing me to offer my two cents.  The way I see it, you don't need a fashion magazine to tell you how to be beautiful.  There is so much you can do with simple touches.
